Take a deep breath. Don’t panic. Columbia Sportswear has you covered — well, one lucky person, that is.
The Portland-based brand has launched a campaign giving away the ultimate survivalist’s dream: a bunker.
Dubbed The Don’t Panic Room, the 40-by-8-foot shipping container is outfitted with bunk beds, a small kitchen and dining area, a composting toilet, a robotic dog named Rocky, and shelves stocked with survival gear, footwear, tools and supplies.
“If the world does go to sh*t, Bitcoin won’t keep you warm. But Columbia will,” the campaign boasts.
And that’s not all. Multiple jackets will be sealed in cans, designed to withstand the test of time.
Before entering, participants should make sure they have room for the 40-foot modified shipping container and consider whether they’ll need any permits or HOA approval if they win.
“The tech bros may already have their bunkers, but we want The Don’t Panic Room to go to someone who has the actual skills to survive the great outdoors,” the campaign states.
So, how do you get your hands on it? Interested participants must submit a video showing off their best survival skills. Think digging, fire-starting and foraging. Entries will be judged on quality, adaptability, problem-solving abilities and good old-fashioned human creativity.
Videos can be submitted via email or posted to Instagram using the hashtag #dontpanicroom and tagging @Columbia1938.
The giveaway is just the latest in a string of intriguing ventures from Columbia.
Just a few weeks ago, the brand released a limited-edition Helvetia Fleece celebrating 35 years of the classic style. The anniversary edition featured the iconic carpet pattern of Portland International Airport.
The jackets sold out within minutes of their release.
