Huckleberry’s first Oregon location brings Southern cooking, brunch classics to Gresham

A restaurant that serves “Southern cookin’ with a California twist” has opened the doors to its new location in Gresham.
Huckleberry’s Breakfast & Lunch, 881 S.W. Highland Dr., had its grand opening Monday, July 13. The Gresham location marks the restaurant chain’s first foray into Oregon, with the plan to continue expanding across the state. The restaurant is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. It opened in one of the former Shari’s Cafe & Pies.
“Our family is thrilled to bring a taste of Southern hospitality to the Pacific Northwest,” said Scott Ganz, multi-unit franchisee. “We’re proud to be opening Huckleberry’s Breakfast & Lunch in Portland, meeting a growing need for brunch comfort food, community and connection.”
“Our goal is to offer more than just a great breakfast—we’re here to create local jobs, build lasting relationships, and serve up a little Southern warmth,” he added.
The atmosphere when walking into Huckleberry’s aims to transport guests away into a world of “weeping willow trees, twinkling fireflies and Zydeco music.” The focus is on a warm and inviting atmosphere and a menu featuring Cajun classics and beloved brunch offerings.
Some of the famous dishes include Huckleberry-stuffed French toast, Mardi Gras beignets and N’awlins sandwiches.
Other dishes hail from the south — fried green tomatoes and fried okra; chicken and waffles; chicken fried steak; catfish; shrimp po-boy and chicken gumbo.
